Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a fluoropolymer derived from tetrafluoroethylene. It exhibits remarkable resistance to most chemicals, an extremely low coefficient of friction, and remains stable at high temperatures.
PTFE Process
We first sandblast the surface to be coated to create tiny micro-scratches. Then, a primer layer of Teflon, thin enough to flow into the micro-scratches, is sprayed on. The surface is then baked at a high temperature (380°C) to create a secure grip. Finally, the Teflon is applied and baked again. This creates a grip that is quite scratch-resistant.
Slidcoat II Process
Slidcoat II is composed of a tungsten carbide matrix in which a PTFE film fills the carbide cavities. This being extremely hard and shock resistant, it will increase the lifespan of the PTFE by x10 or x20.
