Silicone-based composite
Nikasil – Silicone-Based Composite Coating
Nikasil is an innovative composite coating made from a metal alloy and silicone. Using a Mach 2 spray process at a temperature of 15,000°C, this coating is applied to a substrate without heating it. The result is a dense, extremely hard, and slightly rough layer. The addition of silicone gives this coating an additional non-stick effect, while also providing optimal performance in terms of corrosion and wear resistance.
Originally developed for the textile industry, particularly for nonwoven applications, and in the hygiene sector (such as diaper manufacturing), Nikasil has also proven to be an excellent choice for applications in demanding environments such as cement plants and the tire industry.
Benefits
– Anti-adhesive: Reduces material adhesion, facilitating cleaning and maintenance.
– Anti-abrasion: Provides excellent wear resistance and extends component life.
Features
– Non-stick properties: The silicone top layer prevents materials from sticking and makes the surface easy to clean.
– Pulling effect: Allows for easier handling and transport of materials.
– Chemical resistance: The coating offers excellent resistance to aggressive chemicals.
– Good abrasion resistance: Protects surfaces from mechanical wear and friction.
– Mechanical impact resistance: The coating is designed to withstand shocks and impacts without breaking. deteriorate.
– Maximum operating temperature: Withstands temperatures up to 300°C.
– Recommended thickness: 0.15 mm, providing an optimal balance between performance and durability.
– Surface finish: Rough and uncoated to ensure better adhesion and performance.
Typical application
Nikasil is used in various industries where wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and adhesion are paramount. Here are some specific applications: – Transfer rollers
– Glue and doctor rollers
– Bearings
– Drive rollers
– Molds
– Gluing parts
– Adhesive cutting
– Adhesive cutting
– Conclusion :
Nikasil is a high-performance composite coating, offering a unique combination of non-stick, abrasion-resistant, and chemical-resistant properties. Thanks to its robustness and ability to reduce adhesion problems, it is particularly suitable for industrial applications where component efficiency and longevity are essential.
