Plasma Projection
Plasma Spraying: High-performance coatings using thermal plasma
Plasma spraying is an advanced coating technology that allows materials to be applied at high temperatures to form extremely strong protective layers. At MNI, we use alumina or aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃), also known as white alumina, to create high-quality coatings.
Plasma Spraying Process
Alumina is sprayed by a plasma torch at temperatures exceeding 15,000°C and at a speed of 500 m/s. This process creates a dense and homogeneous coating, offering excellent insulation and strength properties.
White alumina is particularly used to make substrates thermally and electrically insulating, while providing protection against wear and corrosion.
Benefits
The advantages of plasma spraying with white alumina
Our alumina coatings obtained by plasma spraying are distinguished by advanced technical properties:
– High temperature resistance: Stable up to 1650°C.
– Effective electrical insulation: Prevents electrical current conduction even in demanding environments.
– Hard and resistant coating: Protects against wear and corrosion, even in aggressive environments.
– Exceptional adhesion: Excellent mechanical strength thanks to its solid anchoring to the substrate.
– Versatile surface finishes:
+ Rough for a natural roughness.
+ Ra finish < 0.2 µm for a smooth and refined appearance.
