Type of deposit

HVOF

HVOF spraying can deposit carbides, metal oxides and metal alloys at supersonic speed (Mach 6). The deposits obtained are very dense and have a remarkable hardness up to 1100 HV and exceptional grip.
Tungsten carbides are used in applications where abrasion and mechanical shocks are particularly severe. Chromium carbides are most often solicited in order to resist corrosion. For certain applications where corrosion and abrasion are present, MNI deposited both carbides bilayers.

For more information

HVOF thermal spraying (High Velocity Oxy-Fuel or by Flame Projection Hypersonic) is obtained by the combustion of a combustive in gaseous form and oxygen.
The gases are burned and accelerated to a Hypersonic speed (between 6.4 and mach5.2) at the nozzle outlet. The powder is then introduced into the torch and through a converging nozzle.
This molten or semi-molten powder is accelerated to supersonic speed. (Between Mach 1 and 2.1).
The particles thus projected on the substrate are flattened and form the coating during cooling and solidification.
The high velocity of the particles, their uniform heating and a short time in the flame contributes to the formation of a coating having a high density (porosity <2%) and excellent adhesion (80MPa).
